It may sound ridiculous, strange, but alas — it’s true. Nose hair extensions, the latest Chinese mode, are trending on Instagram, and while the idea began as a joke, it’s going places. If you’re bored of drawing all the focus to your eyes, never fear – there’s another hairy trend you can try. Behold nose hair extensions.

Technically they’re not extensions, but false lashes stuck around the rim of each nostril, splayed out to create the effect of super long hair peeking out of your nose. The idea comes from a young Chinese instagrammer nicknamed @gret_chen_chen. Since she posted her first selfie on instagram, the selfie went viral. gret_chen_chen account is known for posting somewhat creative and beautifully odd photos that might make you giggle, so it doesn’t seem likely that @gret_chen_chen meant to create a beauty fad.

This is probably one of the most bizarre beauty moments we’ve seen this year. It went viral not because that people do love them (thank god), it’s just that they are all morbidly fascinated.
