Lara and Mara Bawar
are distinguished by their striking appearance that spread shockwaves through
the fashion industry. The two girls are twins, aged 11 old years, from São
Paulo, Brazil, were born with albinism, a genetic syndrome that causes a lack
of skin, eyes, and hair color; however, this disorder transforms the twins to
extraordinary beautiful girls. Due to the lack of melanin, a condition that
affects one in 18 000 people, the skin of the twins is purely white like a
paper.
The starting point of
the two models is in 2016 when a Swiss photographer called Vinicius Terranova
worked in a personnel project with them. The project was known as Flores
Raras which means “rare flowers.” Since then, the two girls, with their
elder sister Sheila, who does not have albinism, have captured the attention of
fashion industry and have modeled for international brands like Nike, Insanis,
and Bazaar Kids.

The Swiss
photographer, in an interview with the Daily Mail, said that he discovered the
two girls in a video and was stunned by their unusual beauty. He then sized the
opportunity and wanted to work with them to produce some captivating pictures
that show how diversity in beauty can be. He states about Mara and Lara.
"They are incredibly beautiful and talented and that’s why I wanted to
work with them," he adds. "They are self-confident, intelligent and
work very well. A beauty that is not that uncommon, but rather rarely perceived
while out there every day, ready to be noticed and given its deserved
spotlight."
The young twins were
happy to be discovered and to be given the opportunity to work in the fashion
industry.
